05 sti no mods , Idle issues ?

When I start the car the rpms jump between 300 and 1000 sitting at idle . It's not a clean rpm fluctuation the car shakes quite a bit. If it sits in idle long enough the car will die. While driving in the lower gears the car will stall as well . Any input on what the problem might be would be appreciated thanks

You cannot measure 300 rpm, can you?

    Have you cleaned the IACV?

    No CEL?

No I can not measure 300 rpm that was a rough guess buy how low it dropped on the gauge. Yes CEL I'm going to get the error code tomorrow and clean the IACV thanks for the suggestion.

The STI is "drive by wire" and has no IACV. Try cleaning the MAF sensor. It could also be time for a plug change. The DTC will pretty much narrow the issue down hopefully.
