    Headlight troubleshoot...

So I recently bought a 02 WRX from a friend and I immediately noticed that one headlight was brighter than the other. After further inspection I realized the "Driving light" was coming on and not the low beam. I played with the wires a little and it came back on for a short time. So I took apart the wires, rewired it and replaced the harness. That made the low beam work, but now when I try to use the high beam lights the one on that side reverts to the driving light. Inside the car the light indicator for the high beams stays lightly lit and when I flip it on it lights up completely. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue and if so how did you resolve it?
    Thanks
