Angry Passenger side water leak / wet floor

Over the past year I have had a water leak slowly develop, dripping onto the forward most section of carpet. Has not been too bad until this week after another heavy rain. The entire lower portion of the passenger floor is damp.

Has anyone had this issue and know where the leak may be coming from?

The only issue I ever had with water leaking was from the sunroof on my 94 saturn. The old lady who had the car before me never opened it (probably to protect her beehive hair cocoon) and the seal dry rotted so when I started using it, it leaked bad during heavy rain. I dont remember if you have a sunroof or not, but thats my input on the matter.

Make sure it's not the A/C, that will come on even if you are on full hot but using the defroster. If it is for sure not the A/C, suspect any/all plugs on the fender and firewall. Check for leaves and such. Also suspect the windscreen seal. Your car is unlikely to have leaves etc. stuck, so I hope it's the A/C because the rest can be a pain to figure out.

    No sunroof.

The car sat not running during the deluge, so I think that rules out A/C and firewall pass thoroughs. No changes were made to anything in potential leak areas that I'm aware of.

I had a '91 Ford Probe that leaked horribly onto the passenger floor, so I know how hard it can be to track those down. The dealer made several attempts to fix under warranty to no avail.

The Probe went into a body shop for a minor door bender (someone backed into the RH door). They were able to find and fix the leak while it was in for that repair. I'm considering taking it to a local shop I know and trust to do the same. Might have my auto tech neighbor look at it too.

No. It finally got cold outside. And super windy.

Specifically where should I look? The car sat not moving with the hood down.

I would check to see if its coming throught the fresh air inlet. I've seen where water puddles up and flows through the intake and drips out of the blower case. Don't know how the drainage system for the wiper cowel is on the older gens but if they are clogged I could see water getting inside.

I had this issue on the way to CF '10 (my passenger side was soaked); it was the A/C drain line near the downpipe. Look for a rubber line in the firewall hanging down on the left side of the downpipe, and make sure it hasn't melted.

Yup. I think that also acts as the drain for the outside vents as well.

+1 I've seen this a few times where that drain gets clogged and the AC starts to drip on the passenger side.

bump for an old thread but my passenger side was soakeedddd today and with fan on, high heat and defrost (which i usually leave one) the car made a whooping noise from inside the car where the DP would be..will look into it when it stops raining..left her at work and got a ride home since the car fogged up horribly and i didn't want to risk driving and having to go through all the flooded roads today. hopefully just clogged or something easy..not a line bursting..

Clogged a/c drain line most likely
Under the right front wheel by the chassis just shoot some compressed air up there.

When you use the defroster a lot it uses the a/c and some water droplets for. You should be alright. I also believe that drain line runs through the carpet on the passenger front by the firewall a d side of the center console if that helps
