Cars can be replaced and your friends will have stories to tell for years to embarrass you

From the pics of the damage though its deeper than just what shows on the surface, but nothing a good qualified body shop cant handle and bring back to new condition.
Thanks man! That's what I'm thinking about the damage....adjuster is coming out on Thurs, so I'll let everyone know what he says.

Thanks! Yea I find it hard to believe that they are unrelated too...I mean it isreally hard to not make that assumption.

Yea, it sucks Bill....well your car is clean as all hell, so I'm hoping that when mine is fixed it won't be noticeable at all. One thing I'm really concerned with is the value of my car dropping from the accident (not that I'm getting rid of it anytime).

Thanks! I can't even tell you how serious I am when I say that hitting a deer has always been my greatest fear.

Seems like an extreme case of Vestibular Neuronitis.Did you recently have a cold?

And you really did try to get a tattoo while driving ?
Thanks Tony! You're actually 100% right, I was diagnosed with Labyrinthitis. Oddly enough though, I haven't had a cold or ear infection in a long time. Although, I have had on going issues with my ears ever since I was a child.
I hope you're not serious about the getting a tattoo while driving. I'm just good friends with my artist and we hang out a lot.

Vertigo is the best way I can describe what I felt like to people. When I looked up, everything was spinning, it was crazy man! Yea, I'm gonna have to go through insurance. My deduct is $500 and it's definitely a lot more than that as far as damage. I could always be one of those cool kids that puts zip ties and stickers all over it and just leave it like that. Thoughts?

My friend did that on his crappy old Celica, giving me alternating bouts of and ...

Good to hear you're ok. It's hard to imagine they're not related, though! Hope everything clears up for you.

It is quite possible that the labyrinthitis was caused by the sudden g force you experienced during hard braking.

I had thought the same exact thing!

Can that be Subaru's new ad-campaign? "Our brakes stop so hard, you'll get Labyrinthitis!!"

Seriously though, I thought our (non-STi guys) brakes were supposed to suck? I will say though...I saw this deer coming in mid-air and the car stopped SO fast. Unfortunately there was no avoiding it, but I really am amazed at how fast it stopped.

Good to hear you're alright and that the rex wasn't to badly damaged. NJ's deer problem is ridiculous, I drive like a grandma on the roads to my parents house.

    I LOL'ed at that.

As far as the car goes, it could have been a ton worse. At least you have a story to tell, and were able to walk(or stumble, fall and vomit ) away from it. In all my years on here I have seen quite a few totalled WRX's due to deer.

You said it...its common to even see deer just grazing on the side of the road during rush hour on some roads in NJ. I saw a bunch in Philly on Kelly Drive last week...they are getting as bad as pigeons and squirrels to where they aren't scared of anything.

Take your WRX with OEM rotors, pads and fluid out to a track day (road course, not drag). Once they get too hot they will suck. Drop is more like it ... the pedal will drop and not stop too well. The Brembos have little or no fade.

The OEMs work just fine for the occasional hard stop on the street.

Glad to hear you are alright.

Around here deer are everywhere as well. Can't predict them either. Just gotta assume that they'll jump out into your car. I've had some real close calls in between the times of 2am-6am.

You learn to appreciate how much those wide tires grip when you slam on the breaks - pretty darn impressive. I almost smashed my friends nose off the dash when the seat belt didn't kick in quick enough once.

Thanks man. It has been getting definitely worse around here too.

I can definitely testify to them doing good on the occasional hard stop into a deer.

Thanks! He literally did jump out into my car lol. I saw him mid-air before I could even react. I definitely can appreciate the grip the car has with the 235s on it. You know, even in some good spirited driving, we don't push our cars near their limits. I would've never had my brakes tested like that in any other way, and I gotta say, I am VERY impressed with how they worked.

I was also able to scrub off a lot of speed before the deer and I met. I've had a few close calls since.

You know the northern half of the Victory run. I work in that area ... deer central.
