A local subaru dealer wants $50 to add a key to the car. The car came with a set of two keys, but only one works.
The dealership that sold me the car is an hour drive away, and while they might do it for free, the cost of gas and the time to get out there make it worth looking into to see if there's any way to add a key yourself.
So, is there any way for the end user to add a key to a 2008 WRX?

are you talking about the key or the key fob transmitter? If its the key fob transmitter did you try changing the batteries?
If that doesn't work
1.SUBARU KEYLESS ENTRY KEY REMOTE FOB TRANSMITTER CLICKER | eBay
2.Subaru Keyless Entry, Security Alarm, Immobilizer Key, Remote Start Systems. Most years and models
You could try & first do the program procedure with your existing transmitter.

Ooh,hang on. That is the throb of a turbocharged flat four engine. A sound which, all over the world, heralds the imminent arrival of a moron - JC.
No, not the fob. The two I have work perfectly. The spare black key and the spare grey valet key turn in the ignition but the engine does not turn over.
