i think he meant synthetic mobile 1. I know my old dealership said that's what they used, so maybe he got that from them.

7,500 Miles is a long time without changing fluid and filter. At least make sure you have oil in because its pretty common that people using Mobile 1 notice a decent burn off before 3,000 miles.

7,500 miles is an almost embarrassingly short period of time but that's what SOA have dictated for warranty, so that's that.

Keeping the car topped off is of course imperative.

I hope this isn't seen as me hijacking this thread, but the crush washer on the oil plug bolt... which way does it go?

The official word is 7,500 miles per interval but interestingly on the "Service Maintenance Contract" thingy where you all oil changes and scheduled maint are covered, the interval is only 3,500 miles per oil change.

Personally I don't trust going over 5k miles per oil change on any car for any type of oil. But that's just personal opinion.

3k miles, Castrol Synthetic. You can't change oil too often, and you can't undo the damage done by not changing it enough. That's just my theory on it

I'm currently running Nippon ENEOS Motor Oil and Gear Lube...so far so good with it. Really smooth shifting.

I use Rotella T6 5w-40 now, it's inexpensive, high in zinc, and performs really well on just about every UOA I've seen. I've also heard good things about German Castrol, but it's more difficult to find. If budget isn't a concern then the Amsoil 5w-40 formulated with high zinc content is an excellent choice.

I used to run Mobil 1 5w-30 and ~1qt would vanish every 3000 miles. Someone did an analysis on it with less than 1000 miles and it had already sheared to less than 20 weight. When you go to change your oil and it pours out of the pan with the consistency of water it's not a good thing.

I think Mobil 1 5w-40 would be fine to use as well. Generally, the greater differential between cold and hot weights the more resistant the oil is to shearing.
