Just bought 02 wrx, turboback exhaust- do i need tune ?

Hi people, just got 02 wrx today, don't know much about exhaust system yet.
It HELIX downpipe and full exhaust, not sure ab it 100 %
It's a bit to loud to me , seems like i need a tune to drive with it or just replace with stock downpipe ?

On neutral it will backfire a bit when i hit 5 K rpm.
The guy who sold it to me had engine and tranny fully rebuilt 2 k ago, all looks new and clean, also it does have recirculating blow off valve.

I live in Colorado high rockies.
Need to make it quitter and get rid of backfire.
    Thanks for answers

bugeyes are weird, because you actually can drive around without a tune - it's very important on 04+ because of how boost control works, but that's mostly done by the ECU, so you won't spike or anything. You'll get 0 benefits until the tune, but you'll have no problems either.

When you say "recirculating", is it 100%? If not, you're running a bit rich on throttle let off, which can cause backfires. Backfires are somewhat normal when you're full catless, but it's likely that that's doing it worse than it should.

The loudness will not go away without switching catbacks.
