    Gas Cap

I've been getting a CEL since I bought my '02 WRX - something to do with emissions or exhaust... I can't remember the exact code, but I'm told it is very commonly due to the gas cap. I'm wondering if I can go to O'Reilly and order a generic one to fix the problem, or if there is a sensor that needs to be replaced.

I'm tired of seeing the CEL...............

It would be nice if it was as easy as that link. *here's hoping* ^_^

It could be that you need a new gas cap (they fail after a while).

I would have posted that, but you said the code was p0440 not p0457. First thing you should do is pull the EXACT cel code again...

Even if a new gas cap fixes the problem, your CEL won't just disappear. You'll either need to clear it or wait 30-50 engine start-ups to know you fixed the problem.
