I have a 2003 WRX Wagon, all stock no mods, 120,000 miles.
I know I have a leaking rear exhaust pipe because of the crappy welded patch that is on the pipe, and a diagnosis said that the rear cat is bad.
More recently than not, the engine has been sputtering while sitting at idle in neutral. No problems when in gear and no power loss what so ever yet to this point.
I have been looking for a good deal on a Cat Back Exhaust and a Rear Cat/Midpipe, but am still working out those details.
I am wondering if it is bad that I continue driving on the bad cat and leaking exhaust if the engine is beginning to sputter like this.
Any comments/suggestions/help would be appreciated.
I have been resetting the CEL daily so that I do not run as Rich a fuel mixture until I get the problem fixed BTW.
