    chipped windshield

I've managed to go almost 30k miles without getting a chip or crack in my windshield. 2 or 3 round trips between ny and tx.

Yet today, on a local street, I apparently got in the way of a little pebble as it shot up from the car in front of me. I now have a tiny little chip. It's barely noticable, but it bothers me. I can barely feel it from the outside.

Is there any particular glue or goop that I can use to fix it so hopefully it won't get worse? Is all the stuff they have at the local parts store going to be the same?

When I DIY I get Permatex, it works well. It's not a perfect fix, but will prevent it from turning into a crack. Lately I've just been going to a glass shop and have them do it for ~15-20. Even a micro pit can turn into a crack given the right conditions.

I've had horrible luck with windshields and can confirm this. I'm on #5. Safelite has been mostly excellent with one exception.

Thanks guys. I called up USAA, and they offer free repair since I have comprehensive. I have an appointment with Safelite to come to my house on Wednesday.

I just need to see if they will try to raise my rates because of this.

I'm also willing to bet the repair guy laughs at how small the chip is. It's about the size of a pen tip.
