I have a 2011 with around 1,100 miles on it and noticed a strange sound this morning...although I would have to have been deaf to miss it.
I started the car and everything was normal, however, by the time I got to the end of my driveway the car started to make a noise. I am having a hard time thinking of a way to describe the noise. Almost as if it was metal spinning against metal. It was a constant noise, no breaks, and I could control the volume of it by speeding up or slowing down. It progressively got louder from 1k rpm to about 3k and then tapered off after that. I sounded as though it was coming from my glove box, and I even opened it up to see if it would get louder...it didn't. After about a minute or so of driving, it stopped and everything was normal. I took the car out at lunch, and there was no sound.
Yesterday was the first time I drove it in the rain, so I was thinking perhaps it had something to do with that, but that is a complete shot in the dark.
I am at a loss. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this?

Hey mate, just curious if you ever found out what that noise was coming from? Because its happening to my car in the mornings now for the first couple minutes of my journey
It has only happened one other time, and that time it seemed to come from the rear passenger side about a week after the time mentioned above. I never found out what it could be so I would guess that teflon jones was correct.
Since that though no strange sounds to report.
