    New engine, where to start???

Well, unfortunately I've had the great luck to official call it ends to my 04'WRX 145k miles engine. What makes it worse, this had to happen when the weather started to get better. Nonetheless I have two options get a JDM version 7 or a WRX 2.5 short block. Which ever I pick I have a few unanswered question I would like to resolve before driving the engine.

    * What can be done to avoid getting a knock??

** What can be done to avoid a cylinder to go bad (bad compression).

I have these questions cause that is what caused my old engine to go bad.

THanks everyone in advance for helping.

Proper maintenance will stop those things from happening. And if you're going to mod it, then mod it properly.

    +1 on proper maintenance.

Also a protune, whether modded or not, will go a long way to preserving the life of your engine. The stock maps are not always the best.
