Later today, I'm going to change the oil on my 145k miles 04' WRX. I just would like to know if the 5w-30 Mobil1 Extended Performance a good brand to get? Unfortunately the oil I used before was so terrible I'm changing the oil prior to my regular 2,500 mile oil changes.
* I'm going to do the oil change at around 12:00 so hopefully I get some help before I have to go.

All Mobil 1 oils are excellent. With 145k miles on the car though, I'd go to a 10w40, though that does depend a little on where you're located/climate.
+1. Are you using synthetic already? You're pouring money down the drain by changing it that soon. You should be going 5000+ with synthetic.
