i dont know if recently the cold contributed to the noise but upon start-up there sometimes is whats sounds to be a clunking ?knocking? noise coming from the drivers side engine bay. if i rev it up over like a 1500rpm it goes or when it warms up goes away. i dont think its anything that serious but wat do u guys think.

Piston slap is common. If it's piston slap I'd not worry.
The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong in the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry. Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell to Arms, 1929

I have the same problem and it sounds like piston slap to a T but I've heard that can do some damage over time. GM had a serious problem in a bunch of their 2000-2001 model year cars. So can it really cause a lot of damage over time?

    What is Piston Slap
