    Well I'd start with wondering about the water pump. Just because it has no shaft play doesn't mean it might not have bearing whine.

    Doesn't sound like the turbo.

    Power steering pump possibly.

    Trany whine

    To find out if it is a whine or not put the car up on a hoist and have someone up inside the car so they can go through all of the gears. When that is happening listen where that whine is coming from. Its that easy! Good luck!
