check eng lite with cruise lite blinking

Im a new member with an 05 STI, the check engine lite comes on with the cruise lite blinking. . .the car has only 20,230miles, and doesnt run any different when its on, but i dont want to do any damage. the lites were reset, and the mechanic said there was nothing wrong, but in a day or two, they come back on. any help on this subject? Thanks

sorry, but the car is mint, with ultra low miles. . .i had an 08 wrx, and just got the 05 about a month ago. . .so im sweating bullets here, and dont want to damage the engine. . .

Find out what the codes are yourself or find another mechanic. Those lights don't come on if nothing is wrong.
