    103,000 on wagon...timing belt???

My 03 WRX wagon is right at 103,000 miles. It runs great and actually gets really good gas mileage. Is now the time for a new timing belt kit? I'm not sure if I'm up for the job or not. What is a reasonable price for a shop to do the job? Thanks for any info.

Yes now is the time. Fair price depends on what is replaced. Some will just do the belt. Some will just do the belt and tensioner. Some will do the belt tensioner, water pump and thermostat. Best practice is to do belt, tensioner, water pump, thermostat and idler pullies along with replacing any leaking seals (crank, cam, oil pump...) Price may vary between garages/states and what you replace.
