    Shifter issues!

    Hey guys.. the other day my shifter poped out of the little cup that holds the ball..

    and ever since its been super hard to shift into 1,3,5

    i use to beable to just push it in gear.. now its more of a jam and push down on the knob

    if i dont push down the ball keeps poping out



    what could be wrong?

    My guess is you must definitely bent or twisted
    something, making the gear shifting awkard.
    If i was in your situation i'd chance my local scrapyard
    for a secondhand one.

    Take it out yourself(take your time and try and remember the
    order it comes apart).

    I wouldn't expect them to charge more than $20 for the part.

    Then repeat the process of installing it on your car, you might
    even see where you went wrong.

    You really need it to be in the cup to get the right leverage, so i'd say try to get it back in. I don't know what year you have, the procedure is different depending on what you have. Usually you have to remove a good part of the center trim and unscrew the knob from the shifter to get the piece out and get back in there. If the snap ring is just off, then you can push the shifter back in and snap the ring back on. If it's broken then you may need a new one.
