    speedometer not working... please help

Hey guys, so Iv always wanted a wrx, and 3 days ago (after a long time saving) I went out and bought a my98 wrx.
tonight I was driving it and suddenly realised the speedometer is not working...
I did accelerate a little quickly, and then looked and realised it wasn't working.
the odometer and trip computer are working fine.

Was just wondering if anyone knows the cause of this issue, and whether I could fix it myself.
Also is this a common problem? or is it a major one, because I really don't have the money to spend, and im getting really scared that it might be a massive problem... please help guys

Either electrical or a sensor. Check the connection behind the speedo itself and check the wiring to the sensor. Some threads:

The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong in the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry. Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell to Arms, 1929
