Could be flooding out due to lack of air I suppose, it's worth a shot, but be prepared to rebuild the engine anyways.

ive taken tubo off and its completely seized so on way to buy a new td05 today the guy i brought the car off said it boosted fine until it broke down which he thought was the piston ring so im hoping it was just the turbo in which case ive brought the bargain of the year il update later

Cool. Make sure you're replacing it with the exact same turbo you took off it, unless you're installing supporting mods with it and planning on a retune right away. Hopefully that's the case as well, but I want to know why he didn't do a compression and leakdown test to verify ring problems.

yes bad news i went and got the new turbo fitted it and still had the same problem as i picked the old turbo up a bit of metal dropped out it was a valve that has snaped and made its way up to the exhaust housing of the turbo so looks like its engine rebuild time i think gutted but i did but it thinking it had a blown piston ring so no harm done realy
