    2002 Cigarette lighter

    Hello all,
I just noticed that my cigarette lighter doesn't work on my 2002 WRX. I checked the fuse and that looks okay and the power mirrors still work (which I have read are on the same fuse), so it looks like the fuse isn't the problem. I have seen on this forum and others that it is probably the cigarette lighter assembly itself that is the issue.

I believe that I just need to remove the center console as if I was installing a radio. But it seems like everyone says that actually removing the old cigarette lighter is a pain. Any tips on removing it?

Also, does anyone know the part that I would need to fix this issue? Maybe the Subaru part number or something along those lines.

    Any help would be appreciated.

This happened to my Eclipse and I ended up taking a piece off the side of the center console to get to the back of the cigarette lighter and I tightened the nut and worked like a charm!

If your sure that the fuse is intact than check for power and ground at the socket... Power should be the center little probe at the bottom of the socket and the ground should be the side of the socket...

I don't have a volt meter to check that out, but maybe autozone would have one that I could borrow. I will try to do that tomorrow.

You could also do it with a test light which would be alot cheaper however it obviously wouldnt give you an exact voltage...

Well, the outlet does appear to be dead. Now, would i have to pick up the replacement part at Subaru or would this be more of a universal part?
