Security issue on a 09 WRX

I have a 2009 wrx hatch with 9700 and had to replace a batttery on the car. When i hook the battery up, the security system kicks in. I have looked up possible solutions for the problem. I have tried to put the key in and move it from the lock to on position 5 times, tried to use the remote, and put the key in the door and unlock the car door twice. I called the local stealership and they want it towed it but i live on such a steep decline that i can't get a tow truck down there. I would appreciate any help you guys can offer.

    thanks

You have to cycle the key extremely fast at a minimum of 5 times...

Personally I cycle it from the off position which is all the way back to the run position ( the position before actually cranking the vehicle )...like i said i do it extremely fast, I dont even count the number of times I just do it until the alarm stops...
