Red face Pep Boys Type Responses From Subaru

Twice now I have been to the dealership to have them look at my car. I told them the turbo is making a chirping sound when I accelerate (best way to describe it is a cricket sort of a sound), and that I seem to be losing power when I accelerate. For example: I floor it to get on the highway, hit 60 in 3rd gear, and while I'm still accelerating, nowhere near the redline, I'll feel the power cut out, and then catch again.

Both of these symptoms are relatively new, and both are things Subaru told me are perfectly normal for the WRX. If it's perfectly normal does that mean my car had issues when it was new and didn't do that? That somehow driving it made the car better?

I also mentioned that my clutch might be slipping since I really have no idea what this power drop off thing is, and they said the clutch is fine, too. Note: I am NOT easy on the clutch, and I put 34,000 miles on it in two years.

Do they ever take the car on the highway and open it up, or is it just a case of hooking it up to their computer, not seeing a code and saying it's fine?

I'm wondering if Subaru might be a bad place to have my Subaru checked out. Should I take it to a Mitsubishi or even a Ford dealership and see if they have better luck with it?

P.S. I know a girl who is into cars and has like literally 10 VWs she and her boyfriend own and work on all the time, and she said any strange sound from the turbo is a bad sign.

taking your car to a ford dealership or mitsubishi dealership would be a waste of your cash, you might as well take it to joe shadetree.

    What are your modifications?

I popped the hood and listened carefully, when I put my ear down to the turbo the sound was coming directly from that spot. I suppose it could be something else, but what else is housed with the turbo that can make any sort of strange sound?

I'm hoping the sound is just something that's loose, but that wouldn't explain the power drop off. I'd like to have whatever is wrong fixed but Subaru says the car's fine, so I have no idea. Maybe a tuner shop would have a better idea? I also don't want to get raked through the coals in cost if I go to one of those places.

Maybe I should just try different Subaru dealerships, but I'm out of the 36,000 warranty now and don't want to pay each dealership $100 to tell me the car is fine.

Sadly, yes. I don't have the cash to do any upgrades. Hopefully in the future...
