Strange howling noise at high speeds

Hey guys, I just got my first WRX. It's a stock 2002 wagon with 87K. I noticed this faint howling/whistling noise coming from who knows where when I get to about 50+ mph. Has anyone ever noticed this or is it a strange anomaly? It also has a roof rack. When I drive home today I'll try to get a better idea of where its coming from.

Also, when I was looking over the engine while idling, there was a high pitched whistling that would start/stop at what seemed to be random. Any ideas? Something to be worried about?

This is a common complaint on cars with frame-less windows. Check around all the window seals.

Then again it could be your rack.
