possible spun rod bearing...how to diagnose?

i've been getting this steady clunking sound when i turn my car on in the morning...it dissipates but is still present once the engine is warmed up. i had changed my oil and found some small chunks, couldn't decipher if they were copper or another material. i don't have any gauges to monitor oil pressure, and in all honesty the car pulls hard, no hiccups, not rough idle, no other issues aside from the strange sound and material found in oil. i will attempt to post a video, for better diagnosis. I still have the oil and will sort through it and post pics next week.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

what boggles me is the car is running just fine, i don't feel any difference in performance. is there a way to check oil pressure without gauges?

so its been a while since i wrote about this issue i've been having. life continues to run even though the car doesnt. in any case i have video

the first video is when i first turn the car on when the engine is cool.

this is what it sounds like once the engine is warm, its as if there's nothing wrong with the car.

i'll let you guys know once i get time to do an oil change and inspect the oil.

    Stop driving your car immediately.

Whatever damage has already occurred at this point is irreversible.

i haven't been driving the car for the past couple of weeks and the few occasions where I have no choice but to drive the car, i stay out of boost and take it real easy.

Drain the oil and tell us what you find.

I would start calling around to see about your engine being rebuilt.

I had that same issue 2x on my 97 VW I tricked out and it was 2 different things. Made that noise but ran great small amount of metal.

The first time it happened I had got a bad heat treatment of valve springs when I installed a cam and blew like 6 of 8 inner valve springs. HAd to rebuild the head.

The second time (and probably closer to what yours is) was right after I had got my new car and decided to sell it. It was the bearing on the piston pin of the rod, not the rod bearing on the crank. Sounded like **** but ran great.

Either way I think shes gotta come apart.

yeah, i've heard nothing but good things about them and it'll be worth the hour drive to have some peace of mind that the car will be taken care of.

i'll be giving them a call tomorrow, hopefully i can take the car down being my wife and I are both off and we can go down there and drop the it off. may make a great adventure trip out of it.
