    Exclamation HELP!!! WRX Engine Sounds

Long story short 02 WRX VF39 swap with 99k miles. Started with a coolant leak at the throttle body and then the car died and wouldn't start. Coolant leak was fixed. The first sound I'm unsure about is the tapping. It sounded to me like a bad tensioner so I did my 100k maintenance and replaced my waterpump and timing belt/tensioner. I also replaced my fuel filter. Put the car back together and it starts up now but makes two unknown noises, the tapping is still there and a screeching sound is now present. That's the second sound - screeching. The screeching wasn't there before the car died but is very loud now. This is a link to a video I posted on YouTube from my phone to help decipher my sounds and locate my problem(s)

that's what I could think of but I will respond to any questions asap. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the quick response. Spun bearing was one of my guesses but my oil doesn't have any shavings in it so I was hoping that meant it wasn't a bearing.

well im pretty sure thats what it is. I also found out that on the piston that the rod had spun on the piston was also cracked and scored the cylnder wall and broke 2 of the piston rings. I just ended up buying a whole engine from a junk yard that had 12k on the motor.

Well good luck in fixing it and again sry for the spun rod bearing.

yeah definitely sounds like something in your valvetrain.... if i were you id just look for a cheap new engine possibly on ebay cause if you were to rebuild it youd be looking at bout 3.5k just a guess though and you should be able to find a used engine for like 1.5k or so good luck man... ii found 1 for 1600 here is the link SUBURU WRX EJ20T TURBO ENGINE AND 5 SPEED TRANSMISSION : eBay Motors (item 260566628727 end time Apr-09-10 15:56:25 PDT)
