My 2006 wrx seems to be burning oil. I'm loosing oil and I don't see a leak anywhere. My exhaust is blowing out white smoke when i give it some gas. Also, when i start my car when the engine is cold, the coolant in the reservoir tank bubbles. I've heard solutions ranging from a cracked piston ring, to a turbo issue, to a blown head gasket. The car has about 50k miles on it right now. Anyone know what the problem is or the best way to diagnose it?

A lot will depend on what's available. Compression test, wet/dry leak down test, cooling system pressure test, or even just plain luck if something shows up externally and you can spot a leak after all.

Yes! I wasn't thinking. Also, depending on your location, the turbo itself may be covered by a lengthier emissions warranty. In CA it was, for example, just like any other emissions component. If you have a warranty, by all means use it.

Excellent! That's the way to go then if it's the turbo.
