Check Engine Cruise Low Oil

2006 WRX STI Stock 60,000 miles. A couple of months ago my cruise control check engine light came on. I called Subaru and they said to check the oil and it was low. I put a quart of oil in and the light went off. A week later I brought the car in for its oil change. I use 5w30 synthetic. That was a couple of months ago and now the light is on and I am low again. Should I just add some oil or bring it into Subaru? Prior to this the car never got low on oil between changes.

funnily enought, i have an 06 STi as well....and on only my second oil change using 5w30 synthetic, my oil light came on, and approx 3 miles later, i experienced full turbo failure....i actually just pulled the car apart tonight, to get it ready for the new turbo on tuesday....what brand of oil are you running?? B/c i am using mobil 1, and i have recently heard some things about their oil filters restricting oil flow big time, resulting in a huge drop in oil pressure.

What was the code? From the sounds of it the code may have been for one of the oil charge valves however to more accurately give you a "directon" to go in we would need the code ( theres no sense in guessing when you have like half the answer right in front of you...lol) Do you notice any external oil leaks? Do you notice any blue smoke coming from your exhaust at any time?

Try switching to Shell Rotella T synthetic 5w-40 for an oil change. Also have you guys removed the turbo oil line filter? There is a TSB on that.
