need help with my first ever rex please....

    Hi guys,

Just bought a My01 WRX, manual.

The car is making a loud noise when the car is reversing and also when the car is on first gear and traveling at a low speed....

My clutch is def wearing out as told my everyone... would that cause the loud noise or could it be gearbox problems?

    Please help....

Is it whistling? Then yes it could be the clutch. Describe the noise better and people might recognize it. Whistling, howling, or rattling could be clutch -- or not... -- and clanking, clicking, thumping could be shafts etc.

Reverse has no synchros so if it is a grinding type noise it may be gear related. However throw out bearring, and pilot bearrings tend to make some weird noises sometimes. Does it change when your foot is on the clutch?

its more of a howling sound but a bit loud.....

The car drives perfect, falls into gears perfectly but the only thing annoying me is the sound.

So, does it change when you depress the clutch?...

Gears change is normal. Have no problems moving up and down the gears is smooth.
