    2002 4EAT Transmission Fluid??

    Hi Guys,

My 2002 Auto WRX has 127k on the clock and I am taking it in for a transmission fluid change in the AM. I have read a lot of things about what fluid to use, but the years are confusing me. I don't have the manual, but is Dextron III right?

I believe the shop said it requires synthetic?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

No, it doesn't require synthetic. Yes it's Dexron III, about 6 L for a normal drain and 10L + for a complete flush... Have used AmsOil synthetic for years with no problems.

Personally A vehicle with that high a mileage and IF the trans fluid has never been changed..I would NOT do a complete flush...sometimes when the same fluid has been pumped around the trans for so long seals and such have gotten accustomed to it....with the replacement of new fluid it can wreck havoc sometimes on a trans...However a drain and fill of the pan might be something to look into, though the around 4 quarts the pan holds would prob. just get contaminated with the rest of the fluid left in the torque converter/trans.....Just my 2 cents....
