Your tech is a smart man. I just bought an 05 Sti, and I replaced the dealer's mystery oil with T6.

My '13 is due for an oil change now. First one since I bought it so who knows what the dealer had in it. All I know is it was synthetic. Hoping mine loves it just as much. Did you use the same viscosity as show above (5W40) ??

Yeah I used the same one. I actually want to do an oil analysis to see how the engine is doing, but I want to do it after my next oil change with the t6.

I believe STP filters have the correct bypass pressure. However, STP doesn't make filters; someone else does and I don't know who. That "who" may make the same filter for other labels too.

Contact makers directly and ask for the bypass pressure specs.

If I'm not mistaken, Napa Gold has the proper relief valve pressure, there's also a purolator one, but my impression is that it makes contact with the headers. Frankly, just order a pack of Subaru filters online and call it a day.

Just went to Rotella T6 this weekend...car is also loving it. I was a little concerned that it's only sold in a gallon jug, but I forgot that the car actually only takes about 4qts to fill it up to the correct level.

Yeah it totally is. Just though I'd throw it out there. Regardless the Rotella is cheaper than most of the big name synthetics anyways
