I've read alot of good things about Shell Rotella T 5w-40. I switched from M1 5W-30 to Rotella a couple changes ago... couldn't be happier. I don't have the oil loss i did with M1.

That one is very well priced usually too.

Overpriced, and there's a remarkable correlation between RP usage and spun rod bearings

Go to WalMart and go to the Auto Care section. Look at the 5qt jugs they have of synthetic oil. Find the cheapest one. Grab the jug and make your way to the checkout line. Put the oil on the counter and pay for it. Tell the cashier you hope they have a nice day. Go to your car and drive home excited that you didn't piss your money away.

What anyone thinks about them is largely irrelevant.

Consider what the most experienced Subaru engine builder inthe world says about additives. Who is the most experienced Subaru engine builder on the planet, with the best technology and the most resources? Subaru. What do they say? In the manual it says to avoid them.

    I avoid them.

i had always thought that they were a waste of money so i never got them but now i know, but one more question. I have transmission grinds in 1st and 4th and got some neo gear oil (90 bucks!!!) and i think if any thing it might have dissolved the syncros, i know that i have to get my trany rebuilt soon but i've heard the uncle scotty's mix is a good way to go and input or suggestions?

There's a transmission oil thread in the transmission forum I think, it should be a sticky. Many pages of info on that topic there. Have a look, you'll find it informative.
