    Hello everyone

Im relatively new to the WRX forum and just recently got a used 2003 WRX. My question or concern is as follows:

Every now and then, when i shift to 1st gear, i will get a very violent vibration coming from the shifter. (kind of like holding a video game controller with vibrational feedback) It only does this in first gear and only happens every now and then. I noticed though that if i come to a complete stop and shift to 1st, it will not vibrate. But if im sort of transitioning from a very slow speed (i.e.. <5mph or less) and try to shift to 1st, it will occassionally do that vibration thing. Not sure what that is as this is also my first manual transmissioned vehicle.

    Thanks

Could it be that you are grinding into first when downshifting while in motion? This is not uncommon if so. Use 2nd instead, and come to a complete stop before using 1st. Also, always depress the clutch pedal fully.
