    power problems?

    i hardly ever give my car a lot of gas but i have lately and when i floor it the rpm goes up and then for some reason the rpm goes down and then tries to back up why is this?

    How many miles are on the car? What year is the vehicle? From the sounds of your description it sounds like your clutch is slipping..so basically if you nail the gas the RPM's sky rocket but the car doesn't increase in speed?

    72,000 it happens only at a certain rpm and my catalytic converter just broke so i dont know if that is a prob as well

    What year is the vehicle? what do you mean your cat. conv. just broke..like its operating below efficiency or it actually broke apart or broke off the vehicle? Is the CEL on?

    the cat has the engine light on and is p0420 so its below efficiency

    my car was doing this but the rpms weren't revving free there were bogging like your described turns out I had blown out cylinder 4......
