My check engine light came on today while i was in cruise control on the freeway. When it came on my cruise control also turned off. Now i have a check engine light with a blinking cruise control light. Does anybody know what this means. Thanks

Thanks everyone... Have an autozone right down the street... Will get it checked immediately
Just checked with autozone and the state of california took away that priveledge from them... All other states have that option... Mechanic here i come!!!
I've read that auto parts stores in California won't read codes before, but this doesn't sound right. Is there a state law for this? Does anyone have a link to that law?
This is the best answer I could find on the web.
Autozone Free diagnostic ? - Yahoo! Answers
Try to find a place that reads the codes for free. If you cannot find a place, then buy a code reader. It'll be cheaper in the long run. This is the one I have.

It's small, easy to use, and read.
Going to harbor freight in town to see if they have one their and if not i will order it.. i see that its a simple plug in. Where can i find out what the code symbolizes or will it also give me that info?
Thanks for all the help everyone
The reader will give you the PO code. Take that code and do a search on clubwrx, and see what it is.
Also, I found this on why parts stores won't scan the codes.
Autozone B.S., in california? - E46Fanatics
Looks like I'll be making a trip to harbor freight to pick up a scanner myself. Got rid of my AP so I don't have the capabilities of doing it from home anymore.
Seems like there was an issue with the stores deleting codes to pass emission testing. I didn't think you could do that with the readers they have at Autozone. I thought all they could do was scan.
