take off your wheels and fully inspect the cv boot and axles. If it doesnt look torn, maybe the clamp/o-ring came off the boot causing it to leak

I saw grease on the inside of both front wheels on a 2005 sti i'm thinking of buying.The cv boots looked good.what could be causing this? The car is immaculate otherwise and nothing seemed bent or cracked.![]()

maybe the previous owner did maintenance and over greased it... and then driving around it just splattered on the wheels due to sintrifigal force... lol

Sounds like the outer cv boots are split/torn and throwing grease. Did you check all 4 cv boots up front?
