Help with timing belt replacement and Service manual
I have 100k on my 04' WRX non Sti. I am having a hard time finding a service manual.
Where can I find one? All I can find are one's that say for the STI model. Also, I need to do the timing belt. How would you rate doing the job? difficult, easy? It seems that if you drop the fans you would have plenty of room to work since the timing cover is in the front. Or what have you paid to have subaru do the timing belt? What would i need to do the job as far as special tools and gaskets and parts? Thanks in advance for your help |

The timing belts on these cars aren't too bad..As long as you know what your doing...If you mistime the engine you will bend valves....the first time I did a Subaru DOHC t-belt job I used this article as a tutorial... http://endwrench.com/images/pdfs/2.5Timing.pdf

The timing belt replacement isn't that bad. I believe you should be able to do this with out removing the fans or radiator.

Timing Belt and Water Pump Replacement
^There is the tread I used to replace my timing belt. Very handy.^ I would rate the job easy to medium for difficulty assuming you have a good set of hand tools (ratchets, breaker bar etc.). It is tedious though. Definitely easier if you remove the fans and radiator. You always have the forum to fall back on if you run into trouble. Good luck, T.J.
