    Turbo whine- pls help

    Hey guys.
I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.
I picked up a 2000 model wrx with 140kms on the clock.
everything seems normal, except for a dreadful "whining noise" which is coming out of the engine bay whenever the car is is boost- whether it be 1psi or more. This happens in every gear.

Any body had these issues before? What could it possibly be?
First thing to come to mind was the turbo, but then again b4 i go changing parts i dont need, i thought i should check. Im taking it in on monday, but the heads up would be great.

    Mods:
    Frontmount IC
    3" Exhaust

Thanks heaps in advance. Looking forward to some helpful info since this issue has been stressing me out hard.

    Welcome to the club!!!

Our cars are know to be not the most quiet ones inside and out. The more modifications are added to them the more strange sounds are introduced. Quick example: after adding an aftermarket downpipe, my wastegate during acceleration sounds like someone's crushing an empty aluminum can under the hood and the car is perfectly fine Not to mention all other sorts of noises, whines, phsssing etc. The beauty of Subarus.

But onto your problem, which part of the engine bay does it come from? Can you hear it while revving the engine in neutral?
Is it possible you could record a quick vid clip and post it on youtube?

well it changes gears fine- as a normal rex would.

It seems to be more of a turbo issue. Im just not sure if its the actual turbocharger, the intercooler piping, any sort of gaskets, hoses, etc.

Can anyone narrow this down for me?
    Thanks heaps

Its hard to narrow down where the sound is coming from- since it only does it while boosting. All i can gather is that it comes from the engine bay.. lol... which prob isnt too much help.

Yea, i'll record a vid during the day, and pm you the details.

    Thanks heaps for you input

    Any other ideas anyone?
