    I just learned that I should use 10w30 in the summer and 5w30 in the winter....even though it calls for 5w20... That's what my oil cap says...

    You seem to have a later car than mine. I did not know that Subaru recommended 20-weights. Do you have the 2.5L? What year? Does your manual recommend 20-weight and list additional viscosities?

    Depends on your location/weather/how you drive it. The cap SHOULD say 5-30

    I think you are a little confused.Your owners manual should give you the info you need.They will recommend the oil that gives the best gas milage but that doesn't always mean it gives the best protection.This is from the 2.0L repair manuals:

    Yeah, I did more research...5w30 seems like the way to go...it doesn't say anything about using full synthetic though...that's what I use..so I might as well stick with what seems to be working...
