CEL and flashing cruise control

So I was driving from Dallas to Austin with the cruise control on. I sped up to pass some one and mid pass the car kinda jerked and the CEL came on and the cruise control light started flashing. So I instantly let off the gas and pulled over to check it out. Car was still running fine and a quick look under the hood I couldnt find anything major. So I slowly made my way to a local mechanic. He pulled the codes (I managed to get a quick glance at the computer and I think the code was P0244) and said something along the lines of a turbo solenoid (his english wasnt that great) and said the car should be safe to drive and to just do my best to keep it out of boost. after about 40 hours (many times of driving the car) the CEL turned off and my cruise control was working again . So I drove from austin to san antonio (where i live) and then the light randomly came on again the next day and my cruise control wouldnt work again. then after about another 12 hours the light was back off again. And everything was back to normal.

The car is a 06 WRX with 41,0xx miles on it. I was hoping if anyone could let me know what they think and if this would be covered under the power train warranty? Am I ok driving it around or should I not move it until I can get it over to the dealership? If it isnt covered under warranty what do you guys think im looking at cost wise to fix this?

Same thing happened to me a while back.... boost spike is what we came up with. Did you happen to look at your boost gauge to see what it was "stuck" on? Mine did it at 1.49 bar. Think thats all the IWG is good for....

Not a BIG deal IMHO....

on WOT the boost gets to about 15PSI. I dont know what you mean by "stuck" on. Also the car is stock and the only mod I know of is the boost gauge. I just bought the car recently and I am the second owner.

Maybe they tapped the boost gauge wrong or something....I could be wrong but i believe P0244 is a wastegate solenoid code... It cant hurt to take a look over the system to make sure everything is hooked up properly and there are no loose/cracked/damaged vacuum lines...Have you gotten on it again since the code appeared? If so what happened? anything?

Any mods done to the car ?

By "stuck" I meant... Did you notice the psi it was on when it spiked ? 15psi shouldn't be enough to trigger the wastegate to stay open... but maybe. Wait for Donkey to respond.

Nevermind.. no mods.... did you buy it new ?

no its used. 1 owner, lease return. Ive been trying to see if it does it again by going WOT but ive only had a chance to do it in the lower gears. No repeats yet but ill try it again tomorrow in 5th. This should be covered under the powertrain warranty right?

Warranty would cover it... they can see if it's flashed or not.

EDIT :

Well I just took the car out and I can recreate the CEL basicly on command. cruising 5th gear at about 60 go WOT and at about 80 the ECU cuts fuel, boost gauge never went over 15. Took the car to the dealership they said if its the solenoid the warranty doesn't cover it. but if its the actual waste gate its covered. Charging me $85 for the diagnostic but if it is the waste gate I wont have to pay it. Im going to be dropping it off tomorrow unless you guys have any ideas.

I'm new around here and don't even have a wrx yet, but I've been doing countless searches on many websites to learn as much as possible before buying. I remember seeing a post from someone on NASIOC about how they kept throwing this code intermittently and couldn't figure it out. It turned out to be a leaking vacuum/boost line in the wastegate/BCS circuit. Check all the lines into the BCS and wastegate and make sure they don't leak at all or have any cracks. Tighten clamps where appropriate.

dude you rock. thanks to your info i took a look and through a little digging i noticed that the tube coming from the IC piping to the wastegate is completely off im going to go buy some clamps.

can anyone post me a picture on how the little pipes are supposed to be routed?
