    Engine Rattle 4000rpm

    Hi All,

Hope someone can help with this?
I have a 2002 Subaru Impreza, just a baby 1500 non turbo, but when the engine is at about 4000 rpm, especially if the revs are held around this area or accelerating through it slowly, a rattling noise from the engine area starts. there is no vibration felt through the steering wheel.

Can anyone suggest anything, it seems to happen under load, but i can also get it to do it when the car is stationary and reved to 4000rpm.

    thanks in advance

    Mark

As mentioned I would go right to the heatshields first...

    cheers guys,

Ive had a look at the heat shields and nothing is loose...

seems to happen also at about 3200rpm but only if the engine is held at the rev range, if you accelerate through the range no noise?

does this sound like somethign mechanical? or pur something vibrating?

    cheers
