    Wierd clunk Noise

well it all started about a month ago with the wierd clunk noise in my 07. it only happens 3 out of 5 times...well when i throw it into reverse and first start moving i here a " Clunk " (just one clunk) from under the motor.. could anyone probably tell what it could possibly be? i think it could be a bad ca bushing or even a mount??? i really dont know and havent yet checked. but has anyone had this problem?

Is this an automatic or manual trans?..I would do a thorough inspection of both lower motor mounts, trans mount, and all the u-joints on the driveshaft....obviously it cant hurt to take a look at everything else while your under there...Do you hear the clunk at any other time other than when you just shift into reverse? How many miles are on the car? any recent service history? any mods?

Sounds like what my MY2007 does when I put the car into reverse.

I have an automatic, and I have found that when I park on any kind of slope where the car rolls back a couple inches it will clunk when I put it into reverse.

This caused me to start using the parking brake HARD when I put the car into park.

So just to break it down really simple.

I stop the car on a slope where the car would roll backward.

I put the car in park.

I let go of the brake pedal.

The car rolls back like 1-2 inches.

I turn off the car, or not...

I put my foot on the break pedal.

I shift out of park (reverse is the first gear of course) and hear a CLUNK.

It doesn't sound very good. Never thought of mentioning it to the dealership.

Is this what you're talking about?

no its nothing of what im talking about.. im yet to check.. but i do know what that is though.. it IS because you dont use the ebrake hard enough.. it happens to all auto cars when you switch to a gear on a down/upward slope its just the over amount of presure on it. i would just recommend putting up the ebrake first before throwing it into park.. so then it rests on the brake instead of the gear. or even throw it into gear THEN drop the ebrake hammer, when you start moving again..

This is your gears resting on each other. if you dont wanna beat on your gears try this,w
    1) when u stop on the hill while the car is in D pull your e-brake up tight,
    2) then put the car into P your car shouldnt roll back at all
    3) when putting it into a drive grea either R or D put it into grear and then release the E-brake
To my knowlege that noise is the gears "popping" off each other from the mass load squezzing them together. try it out. should fix your prob n help prevent any problems in the future.
