    popped tire, told i gotta buy four new.

    IS this true that since i wrecked one tire that now i have to purchase a whole new set of four? If so why?

    You need even tread wear to not damage the differential - another option would be to shave the new tire

    /\ +1 Pretty sure it even says this in the owners manual.I think there can't be more than 1/4" difference in wheel diameter or something.

    so wouldnt i only need to buy two front tires since there are different differentials? doesnt make since to buy four as long as i get the same sized tire.

    I was told the same thing by the kids at America's Tire Company. They said that since the car has F/T AWD, I would be risking damage to the drive-train by replacing just one tire.

    I didn't believe it at first, but then after doing some research online, I ended-up going back and buying a whole new set.

    As I said earlier, you need to buy four new tires or shave the new tire to within a certain spec (read your owners manual) of the other three tires. Unless your tires are basically new, buying four new tires is probably your better option, as tire compounds wear and they become less effective.
