    New Oil Technical Service Bulletin?

Hey fellas. Anyone have a copy of the 1-2 month old TSB that states that full-syn oil is no longer recommended with turbocharged Subarus???

I asked my dealership if I could have a copy and they said NO!

A link to the TSB would be great... can't find it on Subaru.com

TSB info typically ends up here.

(No comment on whether or not to use synthetic oil in one's motor -- any motor... I'm out of that discussion).

I just checked subarunet for current TSB's and found none of which you speak of. Are you sure of your sources? I check subarunet weekly for these types of things along with recall info. check your owners manual, it should address synthetic oil. if something in the owners manual changes, i'm pretty sure subaru has to let owners know in writing; similar to a recall, in which owners are sent notices if their model is affected.

did you hear about this on 08/09 models or are they making it retroactive on all model years? I just find this hard to believe.

My dealership stated they received a bulletin that stated synthetic oil is too thin, leading to blown out turbos.

They said it should be on the website but would not print a copy for me. Considering a full-syn oil change is 2-3 times more expensive, there must be some validity to this claim.

I'd be more comfortable with actual data. There is an existing oil TSB that pointed out what grades of oil are appropriate and even danced around the reasons behind those choices, but that's been out for a while.

One thing to consider is that in order to figure out whether something is useful or not, we all have to be talking about the same thing. When it comes to "synthetic oil" we are not, as in the US at least there is a legal definition, and a series of chemical definitions also.

If you are concerned contact SOA directly via phone or email. They should provide you with direction about what lubricants are recommended by the manufacturer for your model.

On the line of TSB's/ Recalls....Did all you 2008 Turbo Subaru Owners get your oil supply line bracket recall done?....I was reading the details of the recall and it seemed really pointless to put this bracket on...theres basically no movement in the pipe at all without the bracket....
