    timing belt pulley on crank also timing

    Hi i have a usual fault im led to belive with the bolt coming loose on the crank pulley and has knackered the crank pulley, i have bought a light weight pulley to replace that and also bought a new bolt and woodruff key as with the crank pulley getting knackered in turn it has knackered the woodruff key, this is now my problem, how do i get the timing belt pulley of the crank and the woodruff key out as i have mentioned the key is knackered also im thinking all the timing belt will have to come of and in this has anyone done, if so how is it to do

    also does anyone live in the derby area with the knoledge of this that may be helpfull and lend a hand

    My car is an impreza wagon turbo awd on a 97 and its a uk

    I wouldn't think it's anything to get all out... Same work as changing the pulley itself. Just make sure to loosen the tensioners BEFORE you unscrew the bolts.... Then when putting it back together to tension it up, then tighten the screws back... Made the mistake once before... DOH!!


    Make sure you do not force the bolt and key out w/the ratchet. Use your hands

    Hi i have got the bolt out and the crank pulley of its just the key has just got messed up and i cant get that out this is what my problem is its seems stuck in and i was told the timing crank pulley should just slide of but i cant move that either as im gussing the key is wedgeing that in place cheers

    You SHOULD be able to just "rattle" it out.... You have a new bolt and key, right ? If so.... put the old bolt half/quarter way back in and use IT to rattle the key out..... Did you take off the rad shroud and such ?? Get a good look w/a mirror.

    I have all new stuff to replace the old, and have removed everything needed, and by putting the bolt back in abit how are you able to rattle as wont it still be tight and the key is jammed in because of the crank pulley spinning round on it and wearing it down this is why i cant grab it or pinch it to wiggle it out cheers

    Are you not able to get the pulley off the car ?? I thought the ney was jammed ? Holy crapola.....

    So the key is the ONLY thing still attached to the car ?

    Hi its the timing belt pulley on the crank is still on i cant get that of and the key is there aswell but im thinking if i can get the pulley of the key will just fall out i hope so at the min im stuck until i can get 1 or the other of
