Timing belt **update: teardown started**please give input**

How many have driven their car past the 105k mile timing belt change? How far past?

Just a curiosity issue as i'm trying to avoid driving the car as i just hit 105k, but i don't have the money to get it taken care of because of a work issue right now and no revenue. Essentially, my union is on strike and i can't justify spending the money to do the maintenance.

My truck and my wifes car are working out fine for transportation around town, but my grandparents are going to be getting lots of snow and i had a trip planned to see them. It's a 1k mile round trip drive basically. Thanks in advance.

Wingless alas. Too bad it took a 50 ton truck to make it happen.

well its really all a matter of chance...personally there is no way i would ride past the recommended change interval of 105k.....just think of this...if the belt does break or skip....big $$$ repairs....

Yeah i'm aware of that... i cancelled my trip though cuz i can't afford repairs if it breaks. Car's parked til i get back to work.

Just started the tear down cuz i found out i'm going back to work on monday. Waiting for my water pump to get here overnight. I think i'm going to prolong it and get a Perrin crank pulley and silicone coolant hoses.

If anyone has suggestions of what else to do while i'm in there, shoot. So far the list is:

    Timing belt (obviously)
    Water pump (durrrr)
    Timing belt tensioner
    Perrin Crank Pulley
    Silicone coolant hoses
Both serpentine belts with Gatorback Poly-V's

I only want to do this once, so if someone has a suggestion from personal experience of having to do it twice (even if it's 50k miles apart) then shoot. Sky's the limit as far as maintenance goes for me.

I just hit 112600 and had it done today.
It never saw the inside of a garage
    it never was driven easy

$700 seemed a bit steep for NJ.

it doesn't compete with 2009 but it keeps me happy.

Cool. Feel free to post more than once every four years. I like hearing from long term owners.

My parts cost over $550. Dealership told me they'd be charging $950. Saved myself $400 by doing it myself. With that money i got Perrin radiator hoses and lightened crank pulley. Still had money left over so i bought a Perrin Twin Tip cat back.

Car's running better than ever before.
