DESCRIPTION OF THE SAFETY DEFECT
Subaru has determined that the turbo charger oil supply pipe located on your vehicle’s engine may have been deformed due to misalignment during the assembly process. As a result, the pipe could crack causing an engine oil leak and potential fire.
DESCRIPTION OF THE SAFETY HAZARD
The turbo charger oil supply pipe is located on the right (passenger) side of the engine. If the pipe is deformed, vibration experienced during normal driving could result in a crack developing over time, causing an engine oil leak. If leaking oil contacts components operating at high temperatures, an engine compartment
fire could result.
I was wondering if it's this aluminum feed tube to the turbo, not sure how in the world it could be "deformed"

I just got the call today. Guy said that it would take about an hour for the fix. Hoping not to combust on my daily drive
i wonder if this will affect the 09's as well...
a few 09 forester xt's but not the WRX.

yeah its true. it only says 09 forester's. it says nothing about the 09 wrx's, so i assume they're exempt from it.

my "bracket" is on-order so just waiting for it to come in...
maybe this "defect" is what happened to that guy a few months back that had a lemon, don't remember his sn, just remember he's from washington/oregon, and SOA hooked/is hooking him up with an '09 wrx

he had a lemon and got a 09 wrx? ... where's my 09? ... haha where's my lemon?!
hahahaha if you can make your wrx engine blow up without you tampering with it and then stumping SOA from fixing it then you'll probably get a lemon...
which means you should've gotten a toyota from toyota of orange...

took my wrx in today for the recall. it did not have a defective pipe. they added the support braket and gave me an oil change. i was out of there in under an hour.
if the pipe is bad, plan on a 2 1/2 hour repair.
Does this include the 08 STI's also?
no, it does not include the 08 STI.
