Ok, I purchased this car off of a used car dealer in Northern PA (AutoStar-I do not recommend their services in any way) but anyways, I'm now having an issue with the headlights. When I purchased this 04 WRX (nonSTi) I looked it over pretty good but not good enough. The previous owner had "attempted" to convert the headlights to HID. In the process they apparently managed to disable the DRLs (no big deal), the foglights (which I would really like to have), and screw up the housings pretty good. The kit is complete and both headlights worked until a bulb blew. The problem is that since the 04 WRX doesn't come with an HID setup stock I assume an H1 HID kit should've been used. This would ensure that the bulbs fit into the housings. Instead a D2S kit was used (stock STi setup) and the bulbs don't fit at all. From the info I gathered from parts dealers they claim that although the housings look the same on that year they actually house two different bulbs. So in an attempt to get the D2S bulbs to work they removed the cups that seal the headlight as well as the plastic ring that actually holds the bulb. Instead they screwed the bulb right to the housing allowing moisture to get in and light to escape out the back. What I'm asking is should I go back to stock, replace the bulb and continue with this bad setup, or buy new housings ($300 a piece). At the very least I assume I need to buy the correct pieces to seal the headlight or if someone knows more about HID if an H1 bulb will fit on the socket I have.
