Subaru oil filters are fine.....as for the rubbing noise....any upgrades on the car...suspension,wheels,tires?...if you can i would get the car in the air and do a through visual inspection of everything under there (brakes, tires, suspension..etc...)

Mobil 1 is very popular but there are never ending debates on what oil is best. I use Mobil 1 oil & filters but I'm not exactly a engine oil SME. (sme = subejct matter expert)

are you the only owner of the car? if not the prior owner might have had a bit to much fun and not told ya. id say have a friend who knows a bit more about your situation drive with you, or take it to a subie dealer.
