HELP: 01 Forester check engine light on

The check engine light of our '01 Forester S comes on tonight when I ignited the engine. (The steering was locked one trip earlier when I tried to start the vehicle.)

The car has been running smoothly and never had big repairment.

I love my Subaru Forester, but now its got almost 100,000 miles.

Is there somebody here have any idea what's wrong with the car?

Any comments would be highly appreciated.

You need to post the trouble code before any one could even begin to help you.

    Sorry for no error code.
It happened tonight and I don't think there is any garage or dealership is still open.

BTW, Should I send it to the dealership or to non-affiliated garage to read the trouble code?
    How much will it cost?

Would it be the infamouse head gasket?
Am I still covered by any of extended warranty?
